People living in the landscapes, the communities whose lives are most directly and deeply affected by forestry, must be meaningfully engaged. Community members help co-create and implement solutions that are rooted in lived experience and have the potential for significant uptake. NGP will ensure that all stakeholders have an opportunity to contribute because connecting people with forestry knowledge, empowers them to restore their land, restoring their hope of better living conditions. Engaging community in these ways, will allow Open Forestry to address the issues most important to those most directly affected. This holistic and inclusive approach enables community participation in, and ownership of, solutions that will constitute the core of the Open Forestry movement, where knowledge is curated, cataloged, and the results are openly shared to anyone, anywhere, anytime. All the while vetted administrators help guide efforts to meet the vision of Open Forestry, and to achieve forest best management practices.
